Suites of the Eastern and Oriental Express

The Eastern and Oriental Express offers guests four categories of elegant private cabins: Pullman Single, Pullman, State Cabin and Presidential Cabin. Most offer twin-sharing accommodation; all are fully air-conditioned with en-suite shower and toilet.

Cherry wood and elm burr panelling provide the backdrop for decorative marquetry friezes and intricate design inlays that enhance the fine fabrics and carpets. There are international electric sockets (220 volts) and 110 volt adapter for razors in all cabins.

Pullman Cabin. 30 Pullman Cabins that measure comfortably at 62 square feet. During the daytime the compartment is a private lounge provided by a banquette style sofa. At night the seating converts to an upper and lower bed. Includes a private en suite shower, washbasin, WC, hairdryer, toiletries etc., along with a wardrobe and in-room safe.

State Cabin. 28 State Cabins which measure 84 square feet each. Configured as a private lounge during the day, with a banquette style sofa, fixed chair and one movable chair. Fixed daytime seating converts into two single beds at night. Includes a private en suite shower, washbasin, WC, hairdryer, toiletries etc., along with a wardrobe and in-room safe.

State Cabin bed sizes: Bed 1 — 1829mm x 736 (this becomes a chair during the day); Bed 2 — 1676mm x 686mm (a sofa by day).

Presidential Suite. Each Presidential Cabin measures at 125 square feet, the ultimate in luxury train comfort. The cabins are configured as a private lounge during the day, with banquette style sofa and fixed chair, and two movable chairs. Fixed daytime seating converts to two single beds at night. A private en suite shower, washbasin and WC is also provided in your cabin, along with a wardrobe and in-room safe. Guests in Presidential Suites enjoy the additional benefit of a complimentary bar in their cabin.

The Dining Cars. You are assured of excellent Eastern and European cuisine in the dining cars, sitting at tables for 2 or 4 people in surroundings lavishly decorated with rosewood and elm panelling. Lunch and dinner are served in the restaurants whilst breakfast is served in your suite. Afternoon tea can be taken wherever you would like.

The Bar Car. Cocktails, aperitifs and liqueurs are available in the fully-stocked international bar on the Eastern & Oriental Express, accompanied every evening by music from the resident pianist as well as local entertainment. The bar is open throughout the day and late into the night.

The Observation Car. This car offers you a truly unobstructed view of the scenery around you, with an open observation deck. Its interior section is the perfect place to enjoy cocktails amidst a colonial ‘veranda’ ambiance with its teak wood flooring, panelled walls, rattan furniture and potted plants. Part of the Observation Car is an outdoor observation area decorated with teak wood. It is the highlight of any train and is the perfect place to watch the exquisite scenery drift by as you sip a cocktail in the evening, tea in the afternoon or that early morning tea/coffee as the sun is rising.

Venice Simplon-Orient Express Cabins

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express twin cabins convert in moments from daytime seating to a comfortable bedroom, all performed by stewards whilst passengers enjoy dinner in the restaurant car. A beautiful mosaic-tiled lavatory is located in each carriage.

During the day each Cabin is configured as a lounge with a banquette sofa, footstool, small table and an original washbasin cabinet with hot and cold water.

At night it becomes a cosy bedroom with an upper and lower bed, complete with soft towels and crisp linen.

Dining Cars

Dining on board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is an unforgettable delight. All dishes are freshly prepared on the train by skilled French chefs, with the finest supplies taken onboard during the train’s journey.
